Argument between Summerfield neighbors turns ugly when woman pulls out handgun

Harley Lynn Boyer

A Summerfield woman was jailed Sunday night after an argument with a neighbor took a nasty turn involving a handgun.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence in the 8000 block of SE 131st Place in Summerfield and when they arrived, the victim told them that she had been arguing with her neighbor, 26-year-old Harley Lynn Boyer, a sheriff’s office report states.

The victim said the fight took a turn for the worse when Boyer went inside her house and came back out with a handgun. The victim claimed that Boyer cocked the firearm, pointed it at her and threatened to kill her, the report says, adding that victim said she was in fear for her life.

Three witnesses reported seeing the argument take place between the two houses and Boyer waving the handgun around. One said that Boyer’s father tried to grab the weapon to keep her from pointing it at the victim. And another reported that Boyer told the victim, “I’m going to pop you,” the report says.

Boyer’s father told deputies that she came into the house and said she was having an argument with the neighbor, then went back outside. He said he went outside to grab her and keep her away from the victim. But he denied knowing if Boyer had a gun, the report says.

Boyer was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. She was released early Monday morning on $2,000 bond and her next court date hasn’t yet been set.
