A Lady Lake man who didn’t call home after work was arrested after he was tracked down by his lady friend at a Leesburg lounge.
The girlfriend of 34-year-old David Andrew Perez told law enforcement he was supposed to call her to pick him after work, so when failed to do so, she tracked him down at Steve’s Package and Lounge.
They were driving home at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday in a brown Chevrolet Avalanche when officers were summoned to State Road 25. Perez was in the passenger seat and “visibly intoxicated,” according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Their vehicle was parked on State Road 25 with its hazard lights flashing. He became “irate” and “uncooperative” and began to beat his fist on the outside of the vehicle. Perez’s girlfriend, who had been driving the vehicle, told police he was “not letting her drive.” She was “upset,” the report said. She called Perez’s sister to come and get him “with the hope that she would be able to better control” him, the police officer wrote in the report.
While police spoke to the girlfriend, Perez was beating on the vehicle’s dashboard.
When the sister arrived, Perez refused to get into her vehicle.
He was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $500 bond.
Perez had previously been arrested on New Year’s Eve 2015 on a charge of driving under the influence in Lady Lake.
