The owner of a cleaning company was arrested while working at a medical office in The Villages.

Sumter County sheriff’s deputies responded at 10:31 p.m. Thursday to the office of oral surgeon Dr. Ronald Caylor at Laurel Manor Professional Plaza after an alarm was activated. Deputies arriving on the scene found two men near a dumpster, one of whom was identified as 29-year-old Eric Beers, of Ocala. He told them he was the owner of E&E Coastal Cleaning and he had been working at Dr. Caylor’s office, according to an arrest report.

The Michigan native was asked to provide some identification and went to his vehicle to retrieve his driver’s license. A deputy followed him and when Beers opened the door of his vehicle, there was “a strong odor of marijuana.” The deputy asked Beers if there was marijuana in the vehicle and Beers admitted he had a bag of marijuana tucked inside the driver’s side door.

The deputy also found in the vehicle a grinder and a glass pipe which contained a burnt substance.

Beers was arrested on charges of marijuana possession and possession of drug equipment. He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $2,000 bond.
