A woman was arrested after a K-9 alerted on her pickup during a traffic stop on U.S. 301.
Brenda Lee Warren, 58, of Wildwood, was at the wheel of a silver GMC pickup at 10:19 p.m. Monday when a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy noticed the truck had an inoperable taglight. A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene and the dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs.
A search of the pickup turned up a leather cigarette case which contained a pack of 305 brand cigarettes. Inside the case was a cellophane wrapper that contained 4.6 grams of methamphetamine. A male passenger in the car told the deputy the cigarette case did not belong to him. Warren admitted it belonged to her. Warren claimed someone must have put the methamphetamine in her cigarette case when she was not looking.
Warren was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug equipment. She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $3,000 bond.
