Brisk progress is being made on a health and wellness supermarket that will anchor a new shopping center being built on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake.
Earth Fare specializes in natural and organic foods. The Earth Fare supermarket will occupy 24,010 square feet of the shopping center. A Goodwill Superstore also will be located in the shopping center.
The Benchmark Group of New York is the developer of Lady Lake Commons Shopping Center, at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Fennell Boulevard.
The chain’s first store opened in 1975 in Asheville, N.C. More than 40 years later, Earth Fare continues to focus on healthy options and in 2008 was one of the first retailers to ban high-fructose corn syrup.
Stores are constructed with sustainability in mind. Reflective roofing reduces cooling costs, LED lighting reduces energy use, while skylights throughout the store bring in sunlight. There are recycling stations in the Earth Fare Café to allow for composting and recycling. The Café also offers compostable to-go containers made from plant-based, recycled materials.
Benchmark previously has announced that a Miller’s Ale House and Heartland Dental will be built on two of the outparcels of the shopping center.
