Marion firefighters tackle kitchen fire in Summerfield mobile home

Marion County firefighters battled a Saturday morning blaze at a Summerfield mobile home.

Crews from Marion County Fire Rescue were called to a mobile home fire in Summerfield on Saturday morning that originated in the residence’s kitchen.

Fire crews received the report of smoke and flames coming from a residence in the 4300 block of SE 137th Lane at 9:43 a.m. When firefighters from Belleview Station Engine #18 arrived less than five minutes later, they reported that the mobile home was about 20 percent involved in flames, a report states.

Firefighters quickly went into an offensive mode, deployed a hose line and attacked the fire. A crew from Rescue 518 completed the primary search of the structure and reported that all of the occupants had evacuated the home, the report says.

Additional units from Spruce Creek Station #30 and Villages Station #10 arrived a short time later and those crews assisted in fighting the fire and the subsequent overall of the structure, the report says.

The fire was called under control at 9:54 a.m. The cause of the blaze was determined to be a cooking fire in the kitchen. No injuries were reported.
