A 75-year-old Summerfield woman called a Marion County sheriff’s deputy for help Thursday after realizing her handgun was missing.
The woman, who lives in the 14600 block of SE 80th Ave., said she had last seen her black .22-caliber revolver with a brown handle this past Tuesday night when she left for Tampa. She said she returned home Wednesday about 8 p.m. and noticed that the firearm, valued at $400, was missing, a sheriff’s office report states.
The woman told the deputy it was possible she had misplaced the pistol inside her residence but she had looked for it and couldn’t find it. The deputy assisted her with another search of the residence and they didn’t find the weapon. He provided her with a case number and filed the footage from his body camera into evidence.
