Food trucks will make their debut Friday at the Cattail Recreation Center in the Village of Marsh Bend. And in true Villages fashion, there will be liquor and music.
Ednas’ Provisions & Vittles and Rita’s Cocina Mexicana are being dispatched to satisfy the appetites of Villagers in the newest section of Florida’s Friendliest Hometown. A variety of domestic and craft beers, wine and soft drinks will be served in the new Ednas’ On The Green pavilion.
Friday’s kickoff will include:
11 a.m.: Food trucks
11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Live Music
3-5 p.m.: Happy Hour
4-7 p.m.: Live Music
Beginning Saturday, hours will be:
Food trucks: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
Beverage Pavilion: 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
Ednas’ Provisions & Vittles is being operated by Jordan McDonough, who also runs The Anglers Club at Lake Sumter Landing, the once-exclusive restaurant that at one time was reserved for top Villages brass.
The Ednas for whom the food truck is named are in honor of McDonough’s two grandmothers, both named Edna.
Rita’s Cocina Mexicana will serve authentic Mexican cuisine. The owner, Jimena Torres, will be operating the food truck with her mother, Patricia. The food truck is named for Jimena Torres’ grandmother.
Torres said the tamales are the dish to try at her food truck.
