
A nurse’s assistant has been arrested in an alleged attack on a dementia patient at an assisted living center.
Rowenna Carlet Cann, 24, of Leesburg, was arrested Friday at the Willows of Wildwood after a fellow employee saw her kick the 81-year-old man who is “nonverbal,” according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. The man had tried to get away from the Jamaican-born Cann, but she followed and then kicked him. Prior to that she struck him three times on the shoulder.
She was arrested on a felony charge of crimes against a person and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $2,000 bond.
Last year, a staffer was arrested in an attack on a fellow employee at the Willows of Wildwood. Earlier this year, a staffer was arrested in the theft of pain medication at the assisted living center.
