A Fruitland Park man has been arrested in an alleged attack on his stepfather.
Fruitland Park police responded Monday night to a disturbance at a home in the 300 block of West Berckman Street.
When police arrived, they found 19-year-old Thomas Edward Gilley wrapped in a towel after emerging from a shower. He admitted he had been in an argument with his stepfather and pushed him, according to an arrest report.
The stepfather said he and his stepson had been in a heated argument after Gilley “called his mother and made comments in an attempt to start problems,” the arrest report said. The argument “turned physical” when Gilley came downstairs and pushed his stepfather into a wall and punched him in the head.
When officers attempted to take Gilley into custody, he “tensed up and refused to stand up,” the report said. Once the officers got Gilley into the squad car, Gilley started “yelling, kicking and banging his head” on the vehicle’s windows.
He was arrested on charges of battery and resisting arrest. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $6,000 bond.
