Harris Chain of Lakes selected to host premier bass fishing tournament

The Harris Chain of Lakes has been selected once again to host a prestigious bass fishing tournament.

Fishing League Worldwide (FLW), the world’s largest tournament-fishing organization, announced Friday that the chain of Lakes in Leesburg has been selected to host an event on Feb. 20-23. It will be second tournament of the 25th season of the FLW Tour and third time the group has come to Leesburg.

For the third year in a row, Fishing League Worldwide will hold a bass fishing tournament at the Harris Chain of Lakes in Leesburg.

The 2020 Tour will feature seven regular-season tournaments showcasing the best anglers in the world competing at top bass fisheries at peak times.

“Lake County is excited to welcome back the Fishing League Worldwide Tour,” said Lake County Commissioner Tim Sullivan. “The abundant Harris Chain of Lakes, in particular, has increasingly become a destination for major fishing tournaments such as this one, which will bring the world’s top anglers to our great county.”

The full schedule for the 2020 FLW Tour season was announced live to anglers on Thursday at the annual pre-FLW Cup banquet in Hot Springs, Ark. The Tour previously visited the Harris Chain of Lakes in 2018 and 2017.

“We’ve had great success holding multiple FLW tournaments in Leesburg, and we are proud to bring the FLW Tour back to Central Florida,” said Kathy Fennel, president of FLW operations.

The event will be hosted by Lake County. Further details will be announced later this year.
