Shoplifting suspect arrested after allegedly stealing $40 worth of tank tops

Brian Lemon

A shoplifting suspect was arrested after allegedly stealing $40 worth of tank tops from a Family Dollar store in Wildwood.

Law enforcement was summoned to the store shortly after 8 p.m. Friday after the manager was alerted by a customer about a man’s strange behavior, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. He left with four packages of extra large Hanes Men’s Tank Tops, valued at $40.66.

An officer located 35-year-old Brian Donell Lemon in the vicinity of Barwick and Mason streets. He was not in possession of the items taken from the store. The officer drove Lemon back to the store, where the manager identified him as the man who left with the merchandise.

During a pat down, Lemon was found to be in possession of a clear plastic bag that contained the residue of cocaine.

Lemon was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $1,500.
