To the Editor:

I don’t know who was on the task force who approved annual passes for adult children and grandchildren who live in the Marion/Lake/Sumter Counties, but what were they thinking?
This is a 55+ community and we should welcome our children, grandchildren and guests on a limited basis – not on a daily basis just because they live close by.
This is like a “free for all” resort. No wonder there is a burden on our facilities for repairing equipment at the rec centers and the family pools are referred to as “pee pools” by the residents. Our children don’t live close by and even if they did, I would expect them to provide appropriate recreation opportunities for their children and they should not be hanging out at our pools on a regular basis.
If you belonged to a country club would you want members bringing all their family members without paying an appropriate guest fee?  Our amenity fee is our “membership” and our guests are fortunate we can invite them to our facilities at no cost and it should be for A LIMITED TIMEFRAME FOR EVERYONE.
