Fruitland Park woman arrested in attack on 82-year-old grandmother

Tiffany True

A Fruitland Park woman was arrested in an alleged attack on her 82-year-old grandmother after a confrontation over suspected drug use.

The elderly woman contacted law enforcement after the altercation on Thursday at her home on Palm Street, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The grandmother said that 39-year-old Tiffany True and her boyfriend showed up at her home and entry was made to a shed.

The grandmother confronted True about suspected drug use and attempted to call 911. True tried to take the phone away from her grandmother and struck her with a closed fist in the right ear, the arrest report said. True and her boyfriend left the premises.

When a deputy arrived, the grandmother reported she had been struck and her ear was “numb.”

True was soon spotted in the 4700 block of Sunnyside Boulevard and was taken into custody. She was asked if she had any contraband on her, but she denied it.

When she was taken to the Lake County Jail, she admitted, “I have something in my bra.” She was taken to a private room by a female corrections deputy who found a syringe in True’s bra.

She was arrested on charges of battery on a person over the age of 65, depriving use of 911, introducing contraband into a detention facility and possession of paraphernalia. The Ohio native was booked at the jail on $12,000 bond.
