Two transported to Leesburg hospital after three-vehicle crash in Fruitland Park

Two people were transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center on Monday morning following a three-vehicle crash in Fruitland Park.

Two people were transported to area hospitals by crews from Lake EMS early Monday morning following a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Dixie Avenue and Shiloh Street in Fruitland Park.

The incident, which was reported to Fruitland Park Police at 7:13 a.m., took place at the intersection of Dixie Avenue and Shiloh Street. It occurred when a woman in her twenties, who was driving a 2005 Nissan, pulled from Shiloh Street onto Dixie Avenue in front of vehicles traveling both north and south, officials said.

All three vehicles – the other two involved were a 1996 Toyota sedan and a 2011 four-door Chevrolet sedan – then collided. The two victims were treated on scene by medics from Lake County Fire Rescue and Lake EMS and then transported to Leesburg Regional Medical Center as a precaution.

The crash left police officers and medical personnel scrambling because they were still tied up on an earlier multi-vehicle accident at the corner of U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and County Road 466A. One man was airlifted from that crash scene to Ocala Regional Medical Center with unknown injuries.
