Firefighters from The Villages Public Safety Department and Sumter County Fire Rescue, along with Sumter County sheriff’s deputies, responded to a call for an aircraft emergency late Thursday afternoon in Oxford.
The incident, which was reported at 4:43 p.m. and involved an ultralight-type aircraft, took place off County Road 204 and U.S. 301 in a pasture on a private farm. The aircraft apparently hit the ground hard and then flipped over. The male pilot, in his thirties, wasn’t injured in the mishap.
