Villagers’ daughter jailed in theft of merchandise from Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge

A Villagers couple’s daughter has been arrested in the theft of merchandise from Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza.

Colleen Kelly, 41, who lives with her parents on Roswell Road in the Village of Polo Ridge, entered the grocery department at the store at about 1 p.m. Wednesday and began putting merchandise into Wal-Mart bags, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The merchandise include paper plates, Listerine mints, a candy bar, cinnamon rolls, crescent rolls, shredded cheese, Duncan Hines apple filling, eggs, Pampers Swaddlers and a 24-pack of Coca-Cola. The total value of the merchandise was $54.13. She had the bags in a shopping cart when she left through the auto department without paying for the items.

The Staten Island, N.Y. native was arrested on a charge of retail theft and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. She was released after posting $500 bond.
