Police track down woman who allegedly stole three Michael Kors purses at Belk

Samantha Mae Snyder

Police have tracked down a woman who allegedly stole three Michael Kors purses at Belk at La Plaza Grande in The Villages.

Samantha Mae Snyder, 27, of Leesburg, was arrested Wednesday in Orange County on a Lake County warrant charging her with grand theft and possession of an anti-shoplifting device.

Snyder entered the store at 6:42 p.m. June 21 and removed a tool from her waist band and cut wires securing several Michael Kors purses, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She grabbed three of the bags, valued at $298 each, and ran out an employee exit. She got into a silver four-door vehicle and fled the scene “at a high rate of speed,” the report said.

Information about the theft was shared with local law enforcement agencies and a Leesburg Police Department detective was able to identify Snyder from surveillance footage. A warrant was issued for her arrest. Snyder has a long history of arrests, including charges of theft and drug possession.
