A Wildwood man was arrested after methamphetamine was found hidden in his underwear.
Bobby Joe Smith, 33, had been a passenger in a vehicle at 12:15 p.m. Monday traveling on Meadow Street when a police officer noticed the driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. A traffic stop was initiated.
“Smith appeared incredibly nervous and began profusely sweating while trembling both in his voice and hands,” the officer wrote in an arrest report.
A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene and the dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs.
A officer was patting down Smith when he noticed “a mass in between Smith’s legs underneath his genitalia.” He shook Smith’s shorts and a plastic bag containing 6.5 grams of methamphetamine fell to the ground, the report said.
Smith was arrested on a felony charge of drug possession and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $2,000.
