A new name has been announced for The Villages Transportation.
A sign for Workman Transportation went up Wednesday morning at the transportation station across from Cody’s Original Roadhouse at Lake Sumter Landing.
Workman Transportation will continue to provide direct airport shuttle service from Lake Sumter Landing and the Brownwood Depot. The shuttles will be running 15 times per day to and from Orlando International Airport. Shuttle sizes vary and can hold from 10-56 passengers.
There will be home pickup and drop-off service available, but those wishing to use those services will need to provide 48 hours prior notice. Home pickup and drop-off will only be available to residents of The Villages.
Workman Transportation is located in Central Florida and has provided more than 30 years of transportation, travel and tour. The company boasts that its drivers are regularly screened, properly licensed, fully insured and have continued training.
The company is offering local day trips and vacation planning services. Day trips include venues such as the Kennedy Space Center and Gatorland, as well as special events including the Mount Dora Craft Fair in October and a performance of “Les Miserables” at the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando, also in October.
For many years, The Villages Transportation was operated by Debbie Laufersky, a longtime friend of the Morse family whose ties date back to Michigan. In 2014, she opted out of the transportation business.
