A Summerfield man who produced a passport instead of a driver’s license was arrested early Monday morning after driving with a burned-out headlight.
Hernan Dario Gonzalez Martinez, 34, who is originally from Medellin, Colombia, was driving a red 2007 Acura when a Marion County sheriff’s deputy pulled him over in the 1900 block of SE 145th Street. He told the deputy he didn’t have a driver’s license and a computer check confirmed that, a sheriff’s office report states.
Gonzalez Martinez told the deputy that his license is valid in Colombia, but he didn’t have a visa in his passport. He was then taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with operating a motor vehicle with no valid license. He was released Tuesday morning on $1,000 bond and his next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
