The Project Wide Advisory Committee has approved a budget which includes $63,500 to replace rotting wood at the entryway to Brownwood Paddock Square.
PWAC, which includes representation from Community Development Districts 5 through 11, as well as the Brownwood Community Development District, met Thursday to approve a $13.14 million budget for 2019-2020.
A sliver of that budget, which is funded by maintenance fees paid by residents, will be spent to replace the rotting wood at the seven-year-old structure that welcomes visitors to the square at Brownwood.
“That wood did not last as long as it was expected,” explained Budget Director Barbara Kays.
The expenditure, though a small part of the overall budget, raised some eyebrows among PWAC members.
“Why does this not belong to Brownwood Community Development District rather than PWAC?” asked Don Wiley, who represents CDD 10.
Sam Wartinbee, head of District Property Management, said, “It has been PWAC from Day One.”
