Oxford Goodwill plans job fair and launches effort to help Bahamas hurricane victims

The Oxford Goodwill Superstore will host a job fair to recruit candidates for several positions.

Goodwill Industries-Suncoast, the store’s parent company, also has launched a campaign to raise $25,000 for people in the Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian.

The Oxford Goodwill Superstore, located at 11954 County Road 105, will be hosting a job fair on Wednesday, Sept. 18 to fill several open positions.

The job fair is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the store, located at 11954 County Road 105, near Wal-Mart.

Goodwill is recruiting for assistant retail sales manager, senior sales associate, sales associate and donations processing associate.

“This is a chance to work for an organization that’s changing people’s lives for the better,” said Chris Ward, director of marketing and public relations for Goodwill Industries-Suncoast. “Retail associates are a vital part of the Goodwill mission, since Goodwill stores support services such as the BookWorks children’s literacy program and jobs programs for people with disabilities.”

Applicants may complete an application online at www.sbsgoodwill.com before attending the fair, but employment applications also will be available at the store.

Goodwill’s benefit package includes tuition assistance and programs to help employees advance their careers. The organization is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer and maintains a drug-free workplace.

In the Bahamas fundraising effort, which runs through Sept. 15, customers will be asked to round up their purchases and the extra money will be donated to the American Red Cross, which will pass the funds to the Bahamas Red Cross. Cashiers at all 20 retail stores and three outlet stores also will accept hurricane relief donations.

Goodwill Industries-Suncoast is a nonprofit organization with a mission to help people achieve their full potential through work. Stores are located in Sumter, Marion, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk, Hernando, Citrus and Highlands counties.
