Villagers are invited to take part in the upcoming National POW/MIA Recognition Day ceremony.
The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 21 at Veterans Memorial Park in The Villages. All area American prisoners of war and those servicemembers listed as missing in action will be honored.
John Grant, a former POW who was serving aboard the USS Pueblo when it was captured by North Korean forces in January 1968, will be the guest speaker. John Bird also will sing at the event.
Veterans and members of the public are invited to attend the service. The park is located on Lake Mira Mar in Spanish Springs between Paige Place and the golf cart bridge over U.S. Hwy 27/441. Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring chairs for comfort.
