Fiesta Bowl in The Villages is preparing to host the first Tom Nemish Memorial Senior Shoot Out – which also is the first event of the new season.

The Shoot Out will take place Saturday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. Nemish worked at the front desk of Fiesta Bowl for most of the 12 seasons the Shootout has taken place.

Nemish died on Aug. 20 and in his honor, $500 will be added to the general prize fund for this once-a-year event. With the extra prize money, all bowlers making the first cut will receive no less than $50 and the estimated first-place prize should be in the $400 range.

Nemish’s wife, Madeline, is scheduled to come meet some of the bowlers participating in events. Senior Shoot Out events are certified by the United States Bowling Congress and are open to all bowlers age 55 and older, with a special consideration given to those bowlers age 70 and older.

The Senior Shoot Outs feature optional brackets, side pots and a King of the Hill pot. The 2019-20 season rules and schedule can be seen at both bowling centers – Fiesta Bowl and Spanish Springs Lane – and at thevillagesbowling.com.
