Woman tasered twice after refusing to turn down loud music

Michelle Spankie

A woman was tasered twice after refusing to turn down loud music that was disturbing her entire neighborhood.

Michelle Denise Spankie, 47, is free on $12,000 bond following her arrest on multiple charges at her home in Fruitland Park.

Lake County sheriff’s deputies and Fruitland Park police on Saturday night surrounded the home at 4603 Pine St. after she repeatedly refused to turn down the music, according to an arrest report from the sheriff’s office.

“No, I will not turn my music down, it’s my right to play music as loud as I want,” she told the first deputy who arrived on the scene.

A second deputy arrived as backup and Spankie continued to defy orders to turn down her music. She struggled with the deputies as they attempted to restrain her and she struck one of them in the face. Spankie’s pit bull began barking at the deputies and bit one of them on the bicep. She broke free and ran into the house, locking the doors. The deputies called for additional backup.

Once the home was surrounded, the deputies made forced entry into the home and Spankie was tasered twice. She was taken to Leesburg Regional Medical Center for treatment after the taser deployments.

She was arrested on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and breach of peace. She was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting bond.
