Money stolen from patient staying at local care center

Lady Lake Specialty Care is located on Griffin Avenue in Lady Lake.

A wad of cash was reportedly stolen from a patient staying at local care center.

The patient at Lady Lake Specialty Care contacted Lady Lake police on Tuesday to report that more than $400 had been taken from him.

The man said the money, all in $20 bills, had been kept in a small gray bag with zipper pockets, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The man said he kept the bag with him at all times. He said the money might have been taken from his bag while he was sleeping.

He said there were “many people” who were “in and out of his room and he would have no idea who may have taken his cash,” the officer wrote in the report.
