The second week of Central Florida League softball action started with a battle between two pizza sponsors as Sammy Joe’s defeated Pie O Mine 14-7.
Sammy’s got four hits from leadoff man Charlie Clare and three each by Mike Raines and Jeff Beatty. Mark Hildebrand drove in three runs with a pair of hits, while Rick Fredieu and Rich Bergman drove in two runs each with their two hits.
Vic Nucatola also had a pair of hits and a sacrifice fly to drive in two runs. Pie O Mine had four hits from Kevin Moore and three from sub Gary Nicolay. Nicolay had two runs batted in, as did Kevin Saunders.
After a close game in the first week, Babiarz Law’s bats exploded for 12 runs as they held Softball’s R Game to only one run. Chipping in three hits each were Pat Kirk, Mark Goodwin, Jim Wiegand and Scott Marshall. Pitcher Gary Lewis drove in three runs with a pair of hits and a sacrifice. For Softball’s R Game, only John Barracato and Jim Lambert managed to get two hits each.
In a game that came down to the wire, Synergy Wealth managed to come out on top with a 10-8 win over Paul Davis Restorations. Jim White and Jim Gordon led Synergy with three hits each. Stroking two hits were Vernon Brooks, Vin Stebbins, Howard Charney, Mike Collins and Scott King. Paul Davis had three hits by Mike Waters and Steve DeLuca, while Don Brozick, Ron Rowe, and Jerry Woolsey had a pair of hits in the loss.
Arden Jewelers scored in the first four innings to build a 10-5 lead over Team Koller and ended up winning 11-6. Arden had home runs from Manny Sanchez and Alan Zahm, with each player driving in three runs. Sanchez had three hits, as did Mark Isom, to lead the team. Zahm, Ray Bedford, Peter Daub, Gary Coleman and Paul Justice each had two hits.
Team Koller scored five runs in the third inning but only managed one more the rest of the game. Koller was led by two hits by Bob Riley, Tom McGann, Bob LaFrance and Paul Brocato.
Palm Ridge Dental had the week off and provided the scorekeepers.
