A Lady Lake man was arrested on a domestic battery charge Sunday evening for allegedly roughing up his girlfriend for not answering her phone when he tried to call her earlier in the day.
The victim told a Lady Lake Police officer that she and Michael Jay Baruch, 55, got into an argument at around 7 p.m. at the residence they share on Jennifer Drive. She said when she started to collect her items to leave, Baruch grabbed both of her arms while facing her and shook her, according to the police report.
The victim said she then pushed Baruch away, leaving a scratch on his forehead. The victim had bloody scratch marks on her right arm and a raised welt on her right cheekbone. Baruch and the victim have lived together in a domestic relationship for about a year, the report said.
Baruch was taken to the Lake County Jail, where he was released Monday afternoon on $1,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in Lake County Court on Oct. 8.
