Man with multiple open alcohol containers arrested on third DUI charge

Matthew Kesser

A man who claimed he only had two shots at a party was arrested on his third drunk driving charge.

Matthew Clark Kesser, 27, of Longwood, had been caught on radar traveling 72 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone shortly before midnight Thursday on County Road 25 in Fruitland Park.

When a police officer approached Kesser’s vehicle during a traffic stop, Kesser put his keys on the roof of the vehicle, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Kesser, in an “arrogant manner,” told the officer he did not want him to think he was going to run, the report said. The officer detected the “strong odor” of alcohol.

Kesser said he had “two shots” at a party a woman was hosting at her home. Four open containers of alcohol were found in Kesser’s vehicle.

He refused to perform field sobriety exercises.

Kesser was arrested on a felony charge of DUI, as it was his third drunk driving arrest. He was also arrested on a charge driving while license suspended. The Atlanta native was booked on $15,000 bond at the Lake County Jail.
