A 78-year-old Stonecrester sought help Tuesday after claiming he was cheated out of a deposit for work on his property.
The man met with a Marion County sheriff’s deputy at the South Marion District Office in Ocala, and said that on March 11 he was at his residence, located in the 12400 block of SE 173rd Lane when he was approached by a man who offered to repair brick pavers on his property. The Stonecrester said he gave the man a check for the deposit and he hasn’t been able to reach him since then, a sheriff’s office report states.
The deputy provided the man with a case number. The amount of the check and the name of the suspect were redacted from the report.
