Summerfield man nabbed walking on I-75 exit ramp after bloody battle with guy pal

Daniel Peter Buxton

A Summerfield man who was caught walking down an exit ramp of Interstate 75 was arrested Tuesday night after a bloody scuffle in a moving vehicle.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to the 17000 block of southbound I-75 and when he arrived, a man told him that 26-year-old Daniel Peter Buxton had struck him with a closed fist in the right side of his face while the two were having a heated argument. The deputy noted blood on the victim’s lips and lacerations inside his mouth “consistent with someone who had just been struck in the face,” the report says.

Buxton had left the scene and was located a short time later walking down the ramp at exit 341 near SW Hwy. 484. He was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with domestic battery. He was being held on $500 bond and is due in court Dec. 2 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charge.
