Lakeside Landings woman sentenced after drinking at Villages nightspot

Jennifer Beattie

A Lakeside Landings woman will lose her driver’s license after drinking at a popular nightspot in The Villages.

Jennifer Lynn Beattie, 51, had been driving a gray Dodge van at 10:43 p.m. March 1, 2018 at Old Camp Road near Old Mill Run at Lake Sumter Landing, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

During a traffic stop for driving without headlights, Beattie told a deputy that she had recently had the vehicle’s oil changed and the technician may have “messed with her lights,” the report said.

She said she was coming from City Fire and admitted she had been drinking.

“I had a couple drinks,” Beattie said, adding that she had two vodka sodas.

She failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .146 and .148 blood alcohol content.

This past week in Sumter County Court, Beattie entered a plea of no contest to a charge of driving under the influence. She will lose her driver’s license for six months, has been placed on probation for one year and has been ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
