A Villager whose family conflict has made headlines for more than a year has reported a theft from his residence.
Charles Newman reported to the Lady Lake Police Department that a motorcycle was stolen last week from his home at 1813 W. Schwartz Blvd. on the Historic Side of The Villages
The stolen motorcycle is described as a 1984 Honda 500cc. The motorcycle is black and has a license plate indicating it is an antique, according to an incident report from the police department.
The 83-year-old Villager made headlines last year in his ongoing conflict with his daughter, Susan Newman. Charles Newman was forced from his home last year after an altercation with his daughter, who was living in her father’s home with her young son. Charles Newman was later ordered into anger management.
This past July, police again were called to the Historic Side home, where Charles Newman asked that his daughter be administered a drug test because she was giving him “hell.” Susan Newman had reported to her father that a 2014 Bashan scooter he had purchased for her had crashed. He told police he had purchased the scooter for her so she could go out and look for work. Susan Newman told police her boyfriend had crashed the scooter in the parking lot of Lowe’s on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake.
At the time of that incident, Charles Newman told police he had custody of his grandson, Susan Newman’s son.
A dirt bike Charles Newman had purchased for his grandson has also been a point of contention between father and daughter.
