Man charged with having sex on the square with underage female

Nathan Withers

A man has been charged with having sex on the square with an underage female.

Employees at Cody’s Original Roadhouse at Brownwood became aware that 27-year-old Nathan Duckworth Withers of Wildwood had sex with the 17-year-old girl during October, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. The employees told their manager what had occurred and the manager contacted law enforcement.

Withers is a former dishwasher at Cody’s. He was arrested Thursday at the restaurant.

The 17-year-old told police that she and Withers had sex twice and the listed address of the “occurrence” is at 2716 Brownwood Blvd., which is the address of City Fire, the arrest report said.

Withers admitted he had sexual intercourse with the girl and that he knew she was 17 at the time. He claimed he had sexual intercourse with her one time, not twice as she claimed. He said the second incident was “heavy cuddling” without sexual intercourse.

Withers, a native of Massachusetts, was arrested on two counts of sexual assault. Bond was set at $10,000.

In 2014, a case of “sex on the square” at Lake Sumter Landing generated headlines around the world. Both the man and woman were sentenced to six months in jail in that case.
