To the Editor:
1. Once a week trash collection is the best idea. With all the recycling we generate, we normally put out just a quarter bag of garbage every pick-up day (1/2 bag per week). It would be no problem for most Villagers to have garbage collected just once per week.
2. We already separate paper recycle from non-paper recycle. Everyone should. It’s easy and should be a requirement.
3. And if burning recycle paper is better than taking it to the landfill, then if paper is already separated at point of collection, sending it to be burned should be much less costly. Also If recycle paper is separated, then it would be easy for the homeowner to put it out with yard waste instead of with the recycle.
4. It should also be easy for homeowners to separate cans from plastic and glass for recycle. This would require smaller, less costly recycle bags also.
