Stephen Lynn

A drunk driving suspect has been arrested after a crash killed three Summerfield residents, including two children.

Pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Rescue were 71-year-old Emilio Nunez and nine-year-old Nevaeh Nunez. Seven-year-old Katalaya Nunez died at Ocala Regional Medical Center from injuries suffered in the crash.

Emilio Nunez had been driving a 2003 Suzuki Vitara at 2:12 p.m. Thursday on County Road 484 at County Road 467 in Marion County when his vehicle was struck by a 1999 Ford F350 driven by 48-year-old Stephen Lynn of Ocala, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Stephen Douglas Lynn

Lynn ran a red light and struck the vehicle driven by Nunez who had the green light, the report said. The vehicle driven by Nunez overturned and landed in a ditch. All occupants of his vehicle had been properly restrained, the report noted.

Lynn is facing three counts of DUI manslaughter and a charge of driving while license suspended. He escaped injury.

Three passengers in Lynn’s vehicle – 40-year-old Justin Lanzl of Hernando, 36-year-old Anthony Quirello of Belleview and 41-year-old Paul Watson of Belleview – suffered minor injuries.
