Villager transported by ambulance from scene of crash on County Road 466

A Villager was transported by ambulance from the scene of a crash on County Road 466.

Eileen Ryan, 66, of the Village of Santiago, was a passenger in a white 2019 Lincoln utility vehicle at 12:19 p.m. Thursday that was struck by a gray 2015 Kia Optima, which made an improper U-turn, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

The driver of this vehicle was ticketed after a crash on County Road 466.

Ryan had been a passenger in the vehicle driven by her husband, 76-year-old John Francis Ryan, which had been traveling east on County Road 466 near the Rolling Acres Apartments. Eileen Ryan had an appointment at one of the nearby offices, the report indicated.

The Ryans’ vehicle was struck by the Kia Optima driven by 31-year-old Jose Luis Claudio of Summerfield. He had been traveling west when he made the U-turn and struck their vehicle, the report indicated.

Claudio claimed he had insurance on the vehicle, but said his mother had the paperwork.

He was cited on charges of improper U-turn and no proof of insurance.
