Wildwood man jailed on dating violence charge after knocking down lady friend

A man was jailed on a charge of dating violence after allegedly knocking down his lady friend who was visiting his home in Wildwood.

Lonnie Gene LaFlam, 65, was arrested after Sumter County sheriff’s deputies were called at 5:15 p.m. Monday to his home after he became “upset” because the woman was visiting his home, according to an arrest report.

The woman said LaFlam grabbed her by the arms and threw her to the ground. A deputy she had suffered “red marks and minor bruising.”

LaFlam claimed the woman lost her balance.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on $1,000 bond.
