St. Timothy Catholic Church in The Villages on Wednesday announced all masses have been canceled due to the Coronavirus.
“Throughout the Dioceses within the state of Florida, effective at the end of day 3/18/20, regularly scheduled celebration of Masses and other liturgical events for the faithful in parish churches and other public sanctuaries are suspended until further notice in cooperation with efforts to contain the spread of the virus (COVID-19). Visitation to the churches to pray is also suspended,” St. Timothy announced.
St. Timothy is one of the largest churches in The Villages making such an announcement. Others include:
• New Covenant United Methodist Church has canceled public worship this weekend at its Summerhill and Lake Deaton campuses.
• North Lake Presbyterian Church has suspended worship services through Palm Sunday. North Lake’s Operation Homebound and the Christian Food Pantry “are still functioning with necessary precautions and modifications.”
• The Shabat service is canceled this Friday at Temple Shalom in Oxford.
• Hope Lutheran Church has canceled its services at the main campus in The Villages, its Lake Weir campus and at Everglades Recreation Center.
