One scenario of the future

To the Editor:

It is still early in this Coronavirus saga, but Trump is already suggesting that he will tell people to go back to work, adding that he doesn’t want the cure to be worse than the problem.  Consider this scenario: Trump followers blindly jump on board. The rest of us shelter in place.  Trump followers spread the virus amongst themselves.  The Villages turns blue within a matter of several months!  The country turns blue.
Trumpians who survived realize that maybe quarantining wasn’t so bad after all, but it is too late. The Democrats are now in charge. My 90-year-old mother can express her Democratic opinion without being attacked by her neighbors. Order returns. Civility returns.  A vaccine finally becomes available. Everyone is healthy again. Business returns to normal. The squares reopen. All Villagers treat their neighbors with respect again. Ah, to dream the Impossible Dream!
