A 20-year-old Summerfield woman who was stopped for a window tint violation found herself behind bars Sunday afternoon after Marion County sheriff’s deputies reported finding drugs inside her bra and vehicle.
A deputy stopped Victoria Kathleen Ortwein’s black four-door Ford pickup truck at 2:30 p.m. in the 14000 block of SE 44th Avenue. She opened the driver’s door and told the deputy that none of the windows in the truck would roll down because of a mechanical issue, a sheriff’s office report states.
The deputy asked Ortwein to unlock the passenger-side door so he could talk with her. He opened the door and found a baggie with a white residue on it sitting in plain view on the passenger seat, the report says.
The deputy asked Ortwein if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and said she there was not. He asked her if people had been doing drugs in her pickup and she said they had been. He then searched her purse and found a baggie with a white powdery substance in it, the report says.
A female sheriff’s deputy responded to the scene to search Ortwein. She found a baggie containing a white powdery substance and a white rock-like substance inside her bra, the report says, adding that Ortwein said the substance was cocaine.
Deputies found a piece of cardboard with a white powdery substance on it located behind the driver’s-side seat of Ortwein’s vehicle. They also found a piece of aluminum foil and several other baggies inside a glass case and two glass pipes, the report says.
The residue on the baggie and the white powdery substances field-tested positive for cocaine, while the substances in Ortwein’s bra tested positive for Phencyclidine, the report says.
Ortwein, who lives at 4795 SE 140th St. in Summerfield, was placed under arrest and declined to speak with deputies. She was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released Tuesday night on $5,000 bond and is due in court May 26 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.
