License-less Wildwood man tased after high-speed pursuit through Ocala

Stanley Leonard Walker

A Marion County sheriff’s corporal was forced to tase a Wildwood man recently after a high-speed pursuit through Ocala.

The corporal spotted a vehicle without a license plate on Friday, May 8 as it sped down South Pine Avenue. The vehicle, driven by 51-year-old Stanley Leonard Walker, was traveling at 61 mph in a 45-mph zone, a sheriff’s office report states.

When the corporal attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Walker pulled into the parking lot of the Stevens Motel on South Pine Avenue and then continued to flee. The corporal used a maneuver to disable the vehicle but Walker fled on foot, the report says.

The corporal quickly caught up with Walker and deployed his taser to end the pursuit. Walker was taken into custody and charged with fleeing and eluding with lights and siren active, driving while license suspended or revoked habitually and failure to register a motor vehicle. He is being held on $8,000 bond and is due in court June 9 at 9 a.m.
