P.F. Chang’s China Bistro’s application for a restaurant in The Villages remains on file with the state, despite the chain’s struggle in the wake of the Coronavirus crisis.
The Asian-themed restaurant chain has filed an application for a location at 3676 Meggison Road at Brownwood Paddock Square, according to a document on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. The filing offers little information other than, “Application in Progress.”
P.F. Chang’s, like so many restaurants across the nation, is fighting for survival due to the pandemic which has spread across the globe.
There have been a number of P.F. Chang’s closings:
• P.F. Chang’s on April 26 shuttered its restaurant in Dunwoody, Ga., north of Atlanta. It had been located in the toney Ashwood Restaurant Park development.
• P.F. Chang’s in Chevy Chase, Md. shut down “temporarily” on March 20. It has yet to reopen.
• P.F. Chang’s in Little Rock, Ark. closed in March.
• P.F. Chang’s in the St. Louis suburb of Richmond Heights, Mo. also closed in March.
However, there has been a bright spot for P.F. Chang’s – frozen food. It’s frozen food sales are up 113 percent since the pandemic changed Americans’ lives.
And like so many other restaurants, P.F. Chang’s is now pushing curbside pickup and takeout. It also is touting free delivery service. The P.F. Chang’s locations nearest to The Villages are in Orlando and Winter Park. Both are open and emphasizing delivery and takeout.
