Driveway concert in The Villages raises money for SoZo Kids

Neither rain, nor virus, nor lack of a stage could stop the Folk Quartet of The Villages Pop Chorus from raising money for SoZo Kids.

The quartet found a driveway on Willow Grove Way in the Village of Bonnybrook this week and that’s all it took to attract a crowd and collect $1,068.

“We had a great turnout despite the weather being a little wet,” said Bill Davis, director of the Pops Chorus and member of the folk quartet. Also in the group are Woody High, Jack Strite and Bill McGaughe.

“We decided to accept donations for Sozo Kids and we received $334,” Davis said.

But the bucks didn’t stop there.

The Folk Quartet of the Villages Pop Chorus raised $1,068 for Sozo Kids with a driveway concert.

One of the music fans, who couldn’t attend the driveway show sent in a donation of $200, Davis said. So, the Pops Chorus decided to match it.

All told, the Pops Chorus will send a donation of $1,068 to SoZo Kids, Davis said.

Things went so well, Davis and his band of folkies hope to do more shows.

“We want to have another concert sometime, and if people want us to play for their neighborhood in order to raise donations for their favorite charity, they can contact us,” Davis said.
