Villager Dan Marrello enjoyed quite a special day of golf recently at one of the most iconic courses in the world.
Marrello and his wife, along with two other couples, spent a weekend this past December in Ponte Vedra Beach so the “guys” could play the famous Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass. At $500 per player, they knew it would be quite a special experience to tackle one of the most famous courses in the world.
Marrello made it even more memorable with a tee shot on the course’s famous hole No. 17. Known as the “Island Green,” the hole is almost completely surrounded by water and it’s estimated that more than 100,000 balls are retrieved from that water every year.
Two putts later, Marrello tallied a par on the hole that is considered one of the most difficult in the world. After accomplishing the feat, he received a special award from the course and a plaque from his golfing buddies.
