To the Editor:

“My,God, they couldn’t print that stuff if it wasn’t true!” This was Mom’s sincerest belief as she swore to me that although I was “book smart,” I was dumber than dirt if I didn’t believe everything printed by her favorite Florida paper.
“My, God, they couldn’t print that stuff if it wasn’t true.”
I gave up very quickly trying to convince her that the alien autopsy was a hoax, that Elvis faked his own death and Armstrong’s moon landing was broadcast from a movie set in Hollywood.
Today, I wish these were the biggest lies written in our newspapers, Tweeted, shared on Facebook, broadcast on TV in prime time.
I simply smiled at Mom. The lies she read weren’t killing anyone, encouraging voter fraud, defending a 17-year-old illegally in possession of an assault rifle crossing state lines as “justified” in murder.
Drink bleach. Vote twice. The virus is a Democratic Hoax.
I’m in the All of Us genome research and have volunteered for COVID vaccine trials. However, with the newest CDC and FDA recommendations and the U.S. decision not to participate with 170 other nations to develop a safe vaccine, I have little confidence in Warp Speed. Our three candidates all use an unproven technology. The Phase 2 trial data is very limited. Contrary to today’s HHS report that Phase 3 is well under way, the first person to get the unproven vaccine was this week.
I’m willing to participate, but I’m not going to lie. Any vaccine distributed for general use Nov. 1 won’t be given to my family. And if an unsafe vaccine is distributed, will those harmed be willing to get the joke?
Arrested for sexual assault for grabbing a woman’s “p**s**” because you missed: “It was “just locker room talk.” Arrested for felony voter fraud because you missed the part when Trump’s press secretary said he was joking. Did Trump send flowers to the mothers of the children under 17 who have died from “the sniffles”?
“My, God, they couldn’t print that stuff if it wasn’t true.”
