Deborah Jane Padgett of The Villages, Florida, was called home on September 22, 2020, after a 2-year battle with cancer. She wanted everyone to know that she was going to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and that her Gracious God was always with her through many trials and this disease. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Powder Springs, GA. with Rev. Billy Moss officiating.
Deborah was born on March 7, 1951, in Trion, Georgia, to Nancy and Henry Bailey and later moved to Powder Springs, Georgia. Deborah and her sister Paulette attended John McEachern High School. Everyone knew those beautiful Bailey girls! Deborah was the Homecoming Queen and captain of the cheerleaders for the Class of 1969. Over the years, she had so many interests that she was passionate about including her love of nature and her morning prayers and walks. Her favorite spot was Corkscrew Swamp in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was a gifted gardener and delighted in the birds and hummingbirds at her backyard feeders. She enjoyed cruising with her husband Larry, scrapbooking with her grandchildren, and blessed many friends and family with her hand crafted greeting cards. She especially enjoyed her friends in The Villages Quilting Guild and looked forward to every Thursday to be with her Samba Card Club friends.
Above all, Deborah was devoted to her family. She and her husband of 11 years, Larry A. Padgett, enjoyed trips and cruises and he was ever unfailingly by her side. She was so very proud of her son, Danny Maddox, Jr., her grandson, Brady Maddox and granddaughter, Breckyn Maddox, all of Acworth, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Paulette Flanagan (married to Hans Winnicke) of Hurst, TX; nephew, Paul Flanagan, Cordova, TN; and great niece, Bailey Flanagan, Dallas, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to Hunting for the Cure, www.huntingforthecure.org or mail to Hunting For The Cure P.O. Box 9159, Augusta, GA 30916 sharing a smile with a child fighting cancer.
