Charles Bobay

Charles Bobay

It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Charles Bobay at the age of 71. He passed Friday, October 30th.

Chuck was born in Sturgis, Michigan on June 26, 1949 to Robert and Alphonsa Bobay.  After completion of high school, Chuck attended and received a degree from Central Michigan University.  He later continued his education and received two masters degrees from the University of Michigan in education and urban planning. He worked for 30 years as an educator for Bendle Public Schools in Burton, Michigan teaching computer science, English, and later a high school counselor.  He also served the community in which he lived as a city council member and was elected Mayor of Linden, Michigan for 8 years.

After retiring, Chuck and his wife moved to The Villages, Florida where they have resident for the last 16 years.  Chuck enjoyed golfing, pickle ball, gathering with friends, playing games, and reading books. He organized golf leagues in The Villages and was active in his community.

Charles is preceeded in death by his brother, Ronald Bobay.  He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dawn Bobay,  his daughter, Lindsey Bobay (John), grandson, Tucker Bobay, sister, Marilyn Mayes, and several nieces and nephews—Jonathan Mayes, Robbie Bobay, Todd Jared Bobay, Tarrah Cooper, and Megan Spurlock.

Now that Chuck is finally at rest and hopefully at peace, our family still holds him close.  We ask that all of you whose lives he has touched in a special way, also hold him close in your minds and your spirit.

Due to Covid, there will be no memorial service.  In compliance with his wishes, he will be cremated and taken to Mackinaw City, Michigan—his summer home that he loved.
