To the Editor:
A peaceful transition of power is fundamental to the success of democracies. Petty tyrants of countries with constitutions similar to ours try to subvert the election process, deny unfavorable results and use whatever means, legal or otherwise to obfuscate the results and thwart the will of the people. If all else fails, they will resort to any tactic (violence included) to stay in power. These are countries that, if the tyrant is successful, turn into “banana republics,” ruled by “strongmen,” with severely diminished democratic institutions and values.
George Washington was the first to recognize the need to peacefully transition. This Bozo is the first to try to subvert it. We can’t let that happen here. I want to live in a real democracy.
